Project Brief
The proposed 17 Storey Dormitory Building in Estrada Street is strategically located to service both the De La Salle University and College of Saint Benilde. The structure is a mixed use dormitory, including a commercial area to maximize the potential of the area. The dormitory features 219 units, which can accommodate the growing demands of the area. Furthermore, the building’s common areas feature recreation spaces, karaoke booths, study halls, gyms and a large food hall.
The proposed design explores the concept of lenticular facades, in which building elements are placed to create the illusion of a changing image depending on the viewing angle, creating striking vistas and a changing, yet iconic façade, when viewed from different angles. To take the concept further, the lenticular façade elements are also oriented in a way that amplifies both passive cooling and sun shading throughout the structure.
